A matchmaking web app we design, build and maintain for Mama Hala Consulting. A vision check reads a live selfie, so only real people are introduced — each one explained in words, never a number.
Before anyone is introduced, a vision check reads a live selfie: one real person, here now — not a screenshot, a photo of a screen, a printout, a stock or celebrity picture, or a computer-generated face — and the same person as the profile photos. Only members who pass are matched, and a new photo goes public only once it matches the selfie.
How it works A clear fail is asked to try again; anything unclear, or a selfie that doesn't seem to match the photos, is held for a person on Amanina's team — never an automatic no. The selfie is never stored. Members can also verify a government ID through Didit.
Each photo is screened before it's stored and each message as it's sent — nothing is sampled. Explicit photos are refused; messages are read for scam scripts, money requests, pushing a new contact off the app, threats, harassment, hate and sexual content.
How it works Threats of violence and sexual coercion are stopped before delivery; anything else flagged is delivered with a mark and goes to a person, who can dismiss, warn, ban or close the chat. Only a photo that clearly passes is stored, and the same image can't be reused on another account.
Each introduction explains itself in plain words — why these two, what's worth asking, what to watch for — with a band such as “Strong fit”, never a percentage. Each side reads it in their own language.
How it works Both profiles are weighed together against Amanina's own rules, and each side's card is written separately in that member's language — English, Arabic or French.
After an ID check, the given name is dropped and the rest of the lineage becomes one-way hashes compared only with each other, so a sibling or a parent and child are never introduced to each other, and a weaker overlap goes to a person to decide.
How it works Salted one-way hashes, compared on Amanina's own systems; no outside company and no model takes part, and this check never stores the name from the ID.
The blur is applied on the server, so the clear photo never reaches a browser that hasn't been given it; after both reveal, each viewer sees a watermarked copy, and either can blur again at any time.
How it works Photos load through short-lived signed links checked for each viewer, never cached, with a watermark per viewer.
